PREGNANT

Getting Started

As you consider your unplanned pregnancy options, especially adoption, you may come across the common use of the phrase “give up for adoption.” This phrase has become popular through media, movies, television, podcasts, and is now practically synonymous with adoption. When choosing adoption for your baby, you are not "giving them up." You are giving them the opportunity to have the best life possible, full of opportunity and happiness. It means you are making a selfless decision to put your baby’s needs before your own. In other words, it means that you are a great mom. If you are ready to choose adoption for your child, we will help you create an individualized adoption plan that is right for you...

Frequently Asked
Questions

Yes, reasonable and pregnancy related expenses can be provided during the pregnancy and up to a maximum of 6 weeks following delivery.

Yes, we have profiles of many families, in state, out of state, and even internationally for you to look through to help you select the family that you feel is the best fit. If you prefer, the agency can select the family for you as well.
This depends on what you are looking for. It can include picture and letter updates, emails, or even annual visits. This is something you will discuss with your caseworker and we will help you find an adoptive family that is open to the same level of post-placement ommunication.
This is OK. The important thing is that you disclose what you do know and are open and honest with the caseworker so we can be sure all required steps are taken that are necessary to either locate and notify him or to show where we have done our due diligence to protect all involved in the process appropriately.
The adoptive family will cover the expenses for the adoption. You will not be responsible for any legal fees, counseling fees, and may be eligible for assistance with living expenses depending on your circumstances.
When faced with an unplanned pregnancy, you have a few choices- parenting, abortion, adoption. If you are considering parenting as an alternative to abortion you should consider how you will financially, emotionally, and physically meet the child’s needs. You should consider the type of relationship you have with the birth father, support from family, friends, and community resources. How will the decision that you make now affect your future as well as the child’s future? If choosing adoption as an abortion alternative there are many things to consider such as if you want an open, semi-open, or closed adoption. You will also need to consider what you want post-placement communication to look like, what type of family you want for your unborn child, such as a single parent, same-sex couple, or heterosexual couple.

WAITING FAMILIES

Heart of Adoptions, Inc. has many hopeful adoptive families waiting for a child. We will ask you exactly what you are looking for in an adoptive family to create your “Dream Family.”

Heart of Adoptions, Inc. does not discriminate. We are an LGBTQ friendly agency. What does that mean? It means we proudly assist anyone including individuals who identify themselves as lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender whether hoping to adopt as a couple or single parent. You may ask – why do we do this? The answer is simple – we want to ensure every expectant parent who is considering adoption is able to find the right adoptive family and that could include a member of the LGBTQ community. Not only that, it’s just right. Every prospective adoptive family we work with has gone through a rigorous home study process and is ready to become parents.

Research indicates that more than 2 million LGBTQ people are interested in adopting and nearly 65 thousand children are living in a home with an LGBTQ parent. Studies have also shown that children raised in a home with an LGBTQ parent tend to be more open-minded and empathetic. Being raised in a home with an LGBTQ parent does not influence sexual orientation for the child. It has been said that good parenting is influenced by providing a loving, nurturing home and environment, not by the parent’s sexual orientation.

Finding the adoptive family, that you feel is best to parent the child you are creating an adoption plan for can be a stressful process. Having options available of all types of families helps make this process easier. To learn more about our available family, click on Meet Waiting Families or contact us to discuss your options. We are here to help you.

We understand that some expectant parents may not be interested in an adoptive family that identifies as a member of the LGBTQ community and we have many other prospective adoptive families as well, so we encourage you to check out our available families or contact us today.

We know you have so many questions and we want to answer all of them.
